Third parties paying employer health tax on behalf of clients

Last updated on February 1, 2024

If you are a third party, such as an accountant or bookkeeper, you may be able to make employer health tax payments on behalf of your clients using eTaxBC.

First, you must enrol for a Third-Party/Bookkeeper account in eTaxBC. If you are already enrolled as a Third-Party/Bookkeeper in eTaxBC, you can use your existing account.

Once enrolled, you can request access to your client’s account and start making payments on their behalf. Visit the eTaxBC help guide for third party accountants and bookkeepers to learn more.

Bulk payments

If you are enrolled in eTaxBC as a Third-Party/Bookkeeper and you provide services for multiple clients, you can make a single bulk payment for all your clients’ employer health tax accounts

First, contact us at 1-877-387-3332 (toll free) or ITBTaxQuestions@gov.bc.ca and request to be a bulk payer.

Once approved, you will see the option to “Make an EHT bulk payment” the next time you log on to eTaxBC.

To make a bulk payment you can either manually enter the account number and payment amount for each client or import the information as a text (.txt) file. We will provide you with the details on how to format the text file when you contact us.

Payment options include pre-authorized debit (PAD) through eTaxBC, or you can arrange an electronic fund transfer (EFT) through your financial institution. Once a bulk payment is received and verified, payments are posted to client accounts.
