The STEMS tour route has two clearly marked loops.
The Selection Loop Tour Stops 1 to 8, which is 3.5km long, begins by following the Old Rail Trail. Along the way you will see examples of extended rotation, patch cut, group selection, and clearcut with reserves silvicultural systems. You will reconnect with the Old Rail Trail at Tour Stop 9.
The Retention Loop Tour Stops 9 to 11, which is an additional 2.7km long, starts at Tour Stop 9 and turns west along the Old Rail Trail, then south along the road. You will see examples of dispersed retention, aggregated retention, and extended rotation with commercial thinning. The tour returns to the parking lot along the same route.
