Now you have all the tools you need, it's time to market and sell your product.

Your first key task is to set up meetings with buyers. At the meeting, remember to bring samples as well as sales and price sheets.

Sales contracts

After you have made an agreement to sell your product, you'll need to sign a contract with the buyer. Make sure you understand the legal requirements in any contract you sign. 

We strongly encourage you to have a lawyer review the contract.

Marketing launch

With your sales meetings lined up, it's time to start your broader marketing plan. Remember to keep track of your progress and measure your marketing activities. This helps you assess if your strategies and plans are working.

You do this by comparing how many resources you invested in the marketing activity with how much your sales were increased by those activities.

  • This is called a return on investment

Promotion and social media

To help drive sales, promote your products on social media and through other tools such as:

  • In-store product demonstrations
  • Selective advertising
  • Distributing product samples
  • Providing coupons or discounts

 Promoting your product or service on social media is a key business task. Newspaper ads, magazines articles, brochures, radio ads and TV spots are not always the media channels of choice.

Continuous improvement

Once your product has launched, use these continuous improvement tips and tricks to measure your successes and meet any challenges you may have.

  • Follow up with buyers when you are not successful to understand why and what you can change to become successful
  • Consider the next stage of growth for market channels and product development
  • Update your plans and be flexible as sales develop
