The Residential Tenancy Branch (RTB) oversees and administers the Residential Tenancy Act and the Manufactured Home Park Tenancy Act. Our job is to help landlords and tenants have successful tenancies.

  • Our website has current information, forms, guides and tools to help you manage your tenancy and understand the dispute process
  • Our call centre staff can explain tenancy laws and answer your questions
  • We offer regular webinars and information sessions for those who want to learn about renting, about being a landlord or about the dispute process in B.C.

Dispute resolution

  • Our team of arbitrators, adjudicators and case facilitators:
    • Help resolve disagreements between landlords and tenants
    • Issue legally binding decisions
  • You can use our online portal to apply for dispute resolution and track your case

What we don’t do

Call centre staff can explain the law and the dispute process, but they don’t give legal advice.

Arbitrators and adjudicators make decisions based on the evidence you present during a hearing. They don’t investigate cases.
