B.C. is building and opening more hospitals, clinics, cancer centres and long-term care homes.

On this page

Overview

The B.C. government has been working with all partners to build more hospitals, clinics, cancer centres and long-term care homes in communities across the province, so you and your family can get the care you need closer to home.

Since 2017, work has been completed or is underway to build:

  • 30 new and improved hospital or health facilities, 14 of which are now completed
  • 37 public and private long-term care homes, 16 of which are now completed
  • 4 new cancer centres
  • 48 urgent and primary care centres are now open, with more to come

This is the largest investment in health capital projects in B.C.’s history and is in addition to the hundreds of maintenance and renovation projects to keep health care facilities safe and welcoming.
