Consultation Recommendations & Final Report

Last updated on May 14, 2015

Minister Wat gathers feedback from participants at the Kamloops Consultation on December 19, 2013.

During the consultation forums to discuss apology wording, apology delivery and legacy ideas, clear themes began to emerge that provided a deeper understanding of the hardships endured by Chinese Canadians, and ways to reduce the possibility such discrimination from ever happening again. Various legacy initiatives were outlined to fulfill the recommendations that are consistent with the themes expressed at the consultations.

Based on the information gathered, the historical context was summarized and a series of recommendations were prepared. A list of recommended legacy initiatives is outlined in the Final Report on the Chinese Historical Wrongs Consultation (PDF 2.7 MB).
