Early Childhood Educator Wage Enhancement reporting

Last updated on July 27, 2026

To receive Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Wage Enhancement, child care providers participating in Child Care Operating Funding and approved for ECE Wage Enhancement must submit monthly ECE reports through My ChildCareBC Services.

For an overview of the reporting process, watch the My ChildCareBC Services – Manage Reports video and review the information below. Detailed instructions are available online in the service's "How to Submit an ECE Report in the My ChildCareBC Services guide."

Before you submit your report

Before reporting early childhood educator hours:

  • Confirm your organization, facility and staff meet ECE wage enhancement eligibility requirements
  • Ensure early childhood educator staff information is current and accurate in My ChildCareBC Services, including certification details and employment status
  • Verify that reported hours reflect eligible hours worked at the licensed facility

Do not report hours for staff who are not eligible for ECE Wage Enhancement funding, such as early childhood educator assistants, responsible adults, independent contractors or volunteers.

Reporting eligible ECE hours

Report the total eligible hours worked by each early childhood educator during the reporting month.

Eligible hours may include:

  • Regular hours worked
  • Overtime hours
  • Eligible sick leave

Do not report hours related to:

  • Vacation leave
  • Parental leave
  • Long-term disability leave
  • Unpaid leave
  • Other ineligible hours outlined in program requirements

Funding is calculated based on the eligible hours reported for each early childhood educator.

Submission deadlines

Submit one ECE report for each reporting month.

Reports can be created in advance, but they cannot be submitted until the first day of the month following the reporting month.

For example, a September report can be submitted beginning October 1.

Reports and any related adjustments must be submitted no later than the last day of the sixth month following the reporting month.

Corrections and adjustments

If you need to update a report after submission:

  • Use Edit to update a report that has not yet been processed
  • Use Adjust to correct a previously approved report

Any additional funding or overpayment recovery will be automatically calculated based on the adjustment.

You must notify the ministry if you identify an overpayment, even if the reporting deadline has passed.

Receiving and distributing funding

Once approved, payment information can be viewed in My ChildCareBC Services.

Providers must:

  • Distribute the full wage enhancement funding and associated statutory benefit funding to eligible early childhood educator employees
  • Pay ECE Wage Enhancement amounts as soon as possible and no later than 60 days after the hours were worked
  • Ensure eligible former employees receive any outstanding amounts resulting from later adjustments
