Indigenous engagement

We are building a future where child care is a core service that all families can rely on. The Ministry of Education and Child Care is committed to engaging Indigenous People and Partners to develop distinctions-based, culturally safe approaches to child care and wraparound services.

Ongoing engagement with First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples is key to supporting early learning and child care priorities for Indigenous children and their families and to meet the Province’s commitments to lasting and meaningful reconciliation.

Ways to participate

The ministry is hosting a series of webinars to continue important dialogue with Indigenous Peoples on early learning and child care. Topics include engagement on design guidelines, inclusive child care, operating funding, co-development of child care regulations, and more.

Canada-B.C. Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement Action Plan

What was it? A series of engagements for First Nations to share their experiences and insights related to early learning and child care, what they would like to see prioritized in over the next three years, and to hear from Nations on how they would like to be engaged by the ministry going forward.
