Registered Seller
Equipment Notification
Business Number (BC Corporate Registry Number)
A nine-digit number assigned to a business, incorporated company or society by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The number identifies the business or organization when interacting with federal, provincial and local government programs.
Business Type
This refers to the legal structure of a business. The identified business types on the Pill Press Registry include Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, Private Corporation, Public Corporation, and Society.
Owner Categories
In order for a business to own, use, or possess Controlled Equipment, they must be part of an authorized owner category. In general, anyone who does not possess an owner category is not permitted to own, use, or possess Controlled Equipment.
There are three owner categories on the Pill Press Online Registry: Authorized Owners, Registered Sellers, and Waiver holders. If a business holds one or more owner category, they are considered authorized under the Act to own, use, or possess Controlled Equipment, subject to the terms & conditions on their certificates.
Authorized Owner
An owner category under PPRECA that currently only includes businesses authorized under an enactment of BC or Canada to manufacture a drug or natural health product, such as holders of valid Drug Establishment or Site Licences issued by Health Canada under regulations under the Food and Drugs Act.
Food and Drug Act
A Canadian Act that establishes standards for the safety and nutritional quality of all foods sold in Canada.
Drug Establishment Licence
A licence issued by Health Canada under the Food and Drugs Regulations (Canada) to fabricate, package, label, distribute, import, wholesale, or test a drug. This licensing requirement applies to all drug establishments except those solely dealing in some natural health products, for which prescriptions are not required and that are for human use in dosage form, including traditional medicines (i.e. traditional herbal medicines as well as traditional medicines such as Chinese, ayurvedic (East Indian) and aboriginal (North American) medicines), homeopathic preparations and vitamin and mineral supplements.
Site Licence
A licence issue by Health Canada under the Natural Health Products Regulations (Canada) to manufacture, pack, label, and/or import Natural Health Products (NHPs) for sale.
Authorized Owner Notification Number
a unique system-generated number assigned by the Pill Press Registry for each Authorized Owner Notification.
Activity
Activity refers to the licensable activities Drug Establishment Licence and Site Licence holders are authorized to conduct. Activities on Drug Establishment licences are fabricate, package/label, test, distribute, import and wholesale. Activities on Site licences are manufacturing, packaging, labeling and importing.
Waiver Holder Application Number
a unique system-generated number assigned by the Pill Press Online Registry for each Waiver application.
Waiver Number
a unique system-assigned number issued by the Pill Press Online Registry when the application for a Waiver is approved .
Supporting Documents
Any documents that can provide more details and information on the application to assist the Registrar in making a decision on the application.
Sell
Under the Act, “sell” includes offer for sale, expose for sale, have in possession for sale, distribute, give, transfer, lend, send, rent, or otherwise dispose of, whether for consideration (i.e. money) or whether by wholesale, retail, or private sale. If a business acts as a broker or supplier of alternative ownership arrangements (i.e. renting, leasing, lending) for Controlled Equipment, these are considered controlled activities.
Owner/ Managers
Owners include the following:
- If a public company or private company, then all directors and officers
- If a registered society, then all directors and senior managers.
- If a partnership, then all partners. If a limited liability partnership, then the general partner.
- If a sole proprietorship, then the sole proprietor.
Managers include any positions responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the business. In large businesses, the manager is the position that oversees the manufacturing operations that include Controlled Equipment.
Registered Seller Application Number
A unique system-assigned number issued by the Pill Press Online Registry when the application for a Registered Seller Registration is approved.
Registered Registration Number
a unique system-assigned number issued by the Pill Press Online Registry when the application for Registered Seller is approved.
Criminal Record Check
May include some or all of: (a) criminal record check or fingerprint-based criminal record verification by searching the Canadian Police Information Centre database; (b) police information check; (c) checks of records in the Justice Information System of the Ministry of the Attorney General and in the corrections information system of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General.
Controlled Equipment
Controlled Equipment" includes:
- Pill Press (includes Tablet Press): A machine, whether semi-automatic, automated or capable of being automated, that may be used to compact or mould powdered, granular or semi-solid material to produce cohesive solid tablets.
- Encapsulator (includes Gel Press): A machine, whether semi-automatic, automated or capable of being automated, that can be used to fill capsules with powdered, granular, semi-solid or liquid material.
- Dies, moulds or punches ordinarily used with a Pill Press, or Encapsulator machine.
- Pharmaceutical mixer or blender, except if the pharmaceutical mixer or blender is used to make tablets or capsules in the course of compounding a drug by a person authorized to do so under the Health Professions Act or the Pharmacy Operations and Drug Scheduling Act, or by an individual for personal use.
Equipment Registry Number
a unique system-generated number assigned by the Pill Press Online Registry to a piece of Controlled Equipment for the remainder of its lifecycle.
Equipment Notification Number
a unique system-generated number assigned by the Pill Press Online Registry for each Equipment Notification.
Equipment Certificate number
a unique system-assigned number issued by the Pill Press Online Registry when that piece of Controlled Equipment is approved and added to the client's inventory on their Dashboard.
Dwelling House
Refers to all or part of a building or structure that a person keeps or occupies as a permanent or temporary residence.
