Withdraw a liquor Special Event Permit

Withdraw a pending application

You can withdraw a liquor Special Event Permit application if the status is:

  • Pending review
  • Pending payment

In the Special Event Permit application portal, go to the "Applications" dashboard and select the withdraw button to the right of your permit.

Once you withdraw an application, it will no longer be eligible for approval. A permit for your event will not be issued.

Withdraw an issued permit

Once your permit is issued you can withdraw it, but you cannot cancel it. You may choose not to use your permit, however, permit fees for an approved event are non-refundable.

In the Special Event Permit application portal, go to the "Applications" dashboard and select the withdraw button to the right of your permit.

If you would like to apply for a PST refund through the Ministry of Finance, contact LCRB.SEP@gov.bc.ca for proof that your permit was withdrawn.

Withdrawing an application or permit cannot be undone.

Permit mistakes

If you made a mistake on a permit that has already been issued, you will need to apply for a new permit.

Fees and refunds

If you have not paid the permit fee, you will not be charged when you withdraw your permit application.

Paid fees are non-refundable. 

PST refunds for withdrawn permits

Provincial Sales Tax (PST) prepayment may be refunded by the Ministry of Finance.
