The Government of B.C. is investing in student housing as part of Homes for BC, a 10-year housing plan with 11,700 new on-campus student beds already built or underway.
Through government loans and grants, and institutional self-financing, many student housing projects are completed or underway, providing students with more affordable housing options while they pursue public post-secondary education and skills training.
Students who choose to live in on-campus housing sign a student housing agreement during their stay. Through collaboration with student associations and public post-secondary institutions, a set of leading practices have been developed to assist institutions when creating or revising contracts and policies.
Please contact the Post-Secondary Operating and Emergency Support team if you have questions about leading practices in on-campus student housing.
Public post-secondary institutions can contact the Capital Asset Management team for information on developing new on-campus student housing projects.
