The Province and BC Ferries entered into two Temporary Service Level Adjustment Agreements as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic:
The Province and BC Ferries have entered into an agreement where the Province will provide $500 million above the Coastal Ferry Services Contract levels for Performance Term Six (April 2024 to March 2028). The additional funding is intended to support fare affordability with the goal of limiting the annual average allowable fare increase (Price Caps) to 3.2% per year, as per the final Price Cap decision by the BC Ferries Commissioner in September 2023, and to support initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
