RW Bruhn Bridge - Alternate Route

Last updated on September 17, 2024

When there is a full closure on Highway 1 at Bruhn Bridge, all travel between Sicamous and Salmon Arm will use Highway 97A and 97B as an alternate route. It is anticipated that this will increase travel time between Sicamous and Salmon Arm by 30 to 40 minutes.

The following  alternate route improvements are underway (target completion dates noted):

  • Asphalt resurfacing from Grindrod to Sicamous (September 23 to October 31 2024; travellers may experience up to 20-minute delays)
  • New traffic signal at the junction of Highway 97A/B and extended eastbound turn bay (September - October 2024)
  • Mara Lake retaining wall south of Swansea Point (timing to be confirmed)

What to expect

Static and dynamic road signs will be used to inform travelers on both Highway 1 and the Alternate Route.

Visit Drivebc.ca for up-to-date information on highway construction delays.

NOTE TO TRAVELLERS: please follow static and dynamic road signs. GPS and other online wayfinding apps may not have the most current information.
