Intersection of Highway 97 and Boucherie Road with heavy traffic

New interchanges on Highway 97 at Boucherie Road and Westlake Road in West Kelowna will increase safety and mobility along the corridor and meet future traffic demands for population and economic growth in the area. 

Project Design

Early engineering is underway to advance the design for interchanges at Boucherie Road and Westlake Road. This work will inform future decisions on the project.

This project will benefit the community by:

  • Improving safety and traffic flow on the highway
  • Supporting active transportation
  • Improving access and connectivity with the local road network
  • Supporting and enhancing adjacent land uses and considering local community aesthetics
  • Minimizing impacts to residents and businesses and maximizing development potential

Schedule

  • Planning for improvements to the Highway 97 intersections at Boucherie and Westlake Roads began in 2014
  • Public consultation was conducted from March 2 to March 20, 2016
  • Additional engineering and construction timelines will be developed once a funding decision has been made

Public Consultation

Input from the consultation was considered along with technical information, costs and benefits, and further input from local governments, to develop preliminary designs for the intersection improvements.
