As a result of Budget 2026, property owners cannot appeal a Speculation and Vacancy Tax assessment they receive due to a declaration that no exemption applies to them in relation to the 2023, 2024, or 2025 tax years. The following have been updated to reflect this change:

The provincial government announced its 2026 Budget on February 17, 2026. As a result, amendments to the speculation and vacancy tax were made. Learn more at B.C. Provincial budget tax changes.
January 2, 2026
Information about the speculation and vacancy tax has been updated to include payment due dates for 2026.
The Taxable areas for the speculation and vacancy tax page and interactive location map have been updated for 2026.
