You pay mineral land tax yearly for each property where you own the mineral rights. All owners are responsible for any unpaid mineral land tax. If you own mineral rights with other individuals, each owner will be sent a copy of the tax notice.

To pay online you must enrol for access to your mineral land tax account. You need to enrol for a separate eTaxBC account for mineral land tax, even if you already have an eTaxBC account for other fees or taxes you pay (e.g. PST). To enrol you’ll need the following information:
If you don't have all of this information or the amount on your previous assessment was $0.00, call 1-877-388-4440 (option 1).
Once you've enrolled, you can log on to eTaxBC to pay and update your account information.
Payments are accepted by cheque, bank draft or money order made payable to the Minister of Finance. Do not send cash.
Note: We will not accept payments by international bank draft of less than $500 Canadian dollars. If submitted, the draft will be returned to you and you will need to make alternate payment arrangements.
Write your account number (e.g. MLT-XXXX-XXXX) on your payment so it can be easily identified when your payment is processed.

Be aware that payments made using bill payments services can take up to 3 business days to process. To avoid late payment penalties and interest, make your payment more than 3 business days before the due date.
To pay your taxes using a bill payment service you need to add a payee for Mineral Land Tax to your bank account. To add a new payee to your bank account you need to know:

When you pay your taxes in person, bring your Notice of Mineral Land Tax Assessment with you. Credit card payments are not accepted.
If you've overpaid your mineral land tax, unless you request a refund, your overpayment will be applied to future mineral land tax assessments. To request a refund, send us your written request by:
