If you don't file your BC home flipping tax return and pay the tax by the filing due date, you will be charged penalties and interest.
If you owe tax under the BC home flipping tax, interest applies the day after the due date of the tax return. This applies to any unpaid amount, including amounts from reassessments. Interest is calculated and compounded monthly on the unpaid amount.
If you pay an amount owing on a notice of assessment or reassessment in full within 30 days of the date of the notice of assessment or reassessment, any additional interest from the notice date to the date of payment will not be charged.
If the penalties and interest resulted from circumstances beyond your control, you may request a waiver of penalties and interest.
A BC home flipping tax return continues to be required if your calculation of tax owing is nil or if you claim an exemption. There are exceptions to the requirement to file a BC home flipping tax return for specific exemptions.
