Proposed regulation

Modify the seasonally open road designation of the Grave Lake Road to a year-round open road from its commencement off the Valley Road FSR at [49.862124°, -114.858656°] to the location of the CP tracks and access gate at [49.857047°, -114.857025°] approximately 600 m while maintaining the remainder of the Grave Lake Road seasonally open designation May 15- September 30.

Rationale

The proposed regulation changes are intended to,

(1) move road closure point to manage compliance

(2) provide year-round and seasonal road access for public and industrial users to a defined and understandable location with access controls.

Detailed on site assessments were conducted to determine the need to modify the seasonally open road to the location of the tracks with an access gate that will function to control use beyond the newly designated year-round open road. This, combined with feedback from Conservation Officers requesting the need for the modification because of historic perceived user understanding and enforcement efforts allowing use to this location and industrial users needs.
