Proposed regulation

Remove general open season for raven.

Rationale

Common ravens can be hunted across the Kootenay Region with no closed season and no bag limit. Raven seasons also exist in Regions 5 & 7B but are restricted to private land only. Ravens are an intelligent and long-lived species that are not typically harvested for sustenance or other legitimate purpose. Concerns have been raised that existing seasons enable indiscriminate harvest and meat wastage of ravens outside of conflict areas. This regulation change proposes to close the hunting season across the Kootenay Region.
