B.C. Plant Health Laboratory

This Ministry of Agriculture and Food program provides diagnoses for plant health problems affecting crops and plants grown in B.C. for a small fee, including plant diseases and assessments for non-pathogenic (abiotic) disorders, and insect pests.

Buy BC

This Ministry of Agriculture and Food program helps people in B.C. identify and select products that are grown, raised and made in B.C.

The Buy BC Partnership Program is a fundamental component of Buy BC that provides up to $2 million in cost-shared funding annually to support local marketing activities that increase consumer awareness and sales of B.C. products.

To participate in the partnership program, you must hold a valid Buy BC registration. The partnership program is open to:

  • Associations

This program, a joint federal-provincial initiative between the federal Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Agriculture and Food, provides cost-share funding to eligible sector business and associations to undertake market development activities outside of B.C.

This Trade Commissioner Service program helps small and medium-sized businesses sell their products or services in new countries. The program shares some of the costs of doing business internationally, making it less risky for companies to grow and helping businesses become stronger, creating more Canadian jobs.

This Ministry of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada program helps businesses show that their products are safe, high-quality, and able to meet the rules of other countries. This program includes support for getting special certifications, and supports businesses in selling more products in Canada and around the world.

Trade Accelerator Program (TAP)

This Greater Vancouver Board of Trade program facilitates strategic growth and fosters international trade opportunities. TAP offers a range of skills, experience, and individual mentoring and coaching across a broad spectrum of fields such as legal, finance, global sales & marketing, taxation, and logistics.

The TAP program is open to: 

  • Small and medium sized enterprises (typically less than 500 employees)

BC Employer Training Grant

This Work BC program provides funding to small, medium and large enterprises to support skills training for their workforces, including prospective new hires. Priority is given to first-time applicants, small businesses, and applicants from regions and industries experiencing the greatest challenges acquiring skilled workers.

The BC Employer Training Grant program is open to:

This Ministry of Agriculture and Food program helps farmers and food businesses in B.C. learn new skills and adapt to changes in how food is made, the environment and markets. This program provides funding for training, expert talks and hands-on learning. Groups must show how their activities will help producers or processors learn and grow.

The Knowledge and Technology Transfer program is open to:

  • Indigenous organizations & First Nations

  • Not-for-profit organizations or industry associations representing commercial producers/processors

Go-to-Market Microgrant

This Innovate BC program provides non-repayable grants to B.C.-based startups and small and medium-sized enterprises to accelerate their path to market success. Funding goes to marketing, branding and improving investor-readiness, helping market-ready businesses expand their customer base and market footprint.
