Earthquakes are common in B.C., but most are too small to be felt. Earthquakes strong enough to cause structural damage occur about once per decade. The most at-risk areas for earthquakes are along the west coast, where the additional threat of a tsunami may follow.

Earthquakes

Earthquakes can't be predicted. When you feel the ground shake, immediately drop, cover and hold on.

Tsunamis

Tsunamis are most often caused by huge undersea earthquakes. They cause large, fast-moving waves.
