What are family advice lawyers?

Family advice lawyers are lawyers paid by Legal Aid BC to provide up to three hours of free legal advice to low-income parents who are separating. You may be eligible even if you do not qualify for a legal aid lawyer.

Services are available by referral from a family justice counsellor or a child support officer.

Visit the Government of Canada's child support table look-up to find the base amount of child support.
Enroll your maintenance order or agreement with the BC Family Maintenance Agency.
See if the Child Support Recalculation Service could help you annually recalculate child support without having to go to court.
