A will is a legal document that explains a person's wishes after they die. These wishes usually include what to do with their money and what they own.

You can hire a lawyer is you have questions about carrying out the wishes expressed in a will or otherwise need advice. Learn more about getting legal help after a death.

Making a will is an important part of planning for your family's future. If you die without a will:

Your property will be divided according to the rules set out in the Will, Estates and Succession Act
The costs to administer your estate will increase
The court won't know who your preferred guardian is for any children or dependent adults in your care
