Registry for Birth Parents
Parents of a child who may be placed for adoption can register to receive notice of adoption details and, if appropriate, be involved in adoption planning.
A few things to know:
- Registration can happen any time before the child's birth and up to 150 days after the child was placed for adoption
- Parents from out of province can also register – but will only receive notice if the adoption is taking place in B.C.
- There is no fee to register
- Be sure to update your contact information, if necessary
Searching the registry: Individuals who have a legitimate reason for access to registry information may request a search by contacting the registry. This includes social workers, lawyers, extra-provincial agencies, or prospective adoptive parents in a direct placement.
