Victim Help and Support
B.C. has many services for victims. This section provides contact information (phone numbers and email addresses) victims of crime can call for help, support and more information.
VictimLink - Victim Information, Support and Referrals
Call VictimLinkBC at 1-800-563-0808 (free in B.C.) available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Deaf and hard of hearing callers: TTY 604 875-0885 (collect calls accepted) or text 604 836-6381.
VictimLink is a confidential telephone service available in many languages that provides information, support and referrals to local victim service workers. See Victim Services for more information.
Financial Assistance for a Victim of Crime
- The CVAP provides financial assistance to victims of certain crimes, immediate family members and some witnesses. For more information, see: Financial Assistance (Victims).
Information about the Accused and Offender
- Victims of crime can ask for information about the person who was charged with the crime (accused) or convicted of the crime (offender) by calling the VSU.
- Register by providing your name and contact information. VSU will update you with information such as what happened at court and whether the offender is in jail.
- If the offender has been sent to jail for two years or more, they will be in a federal correctional centre (penitentiary). For information on victim notification, call the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), Victim Services at 1-866-806-2275 (free in B.C. - when you are asked for the region, select 1 for Pacific Region) or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
