Manual claims submissions

B.C. residents may submit claims by mail or fax to request reimbursement for eligible benefits they paid for. This may be needed when shopping at PharmaCare-approved border pharmacies or at offline medical device suppliers (e.g. ostomy supplies). PharmaCare will issue a cheque for verified claim amounts.

If coverage is under Fair PharmaCare, your deductible and family maximum may affect how much you are reimbursed. If you have not met your deductible, an eligible portion of the claim amount will count towards it. If you have met your deductible but not your family maximum, the 30 percent of the claim that is your responsibility will also be subtracted from the claim amount.

How to submit claims (except for prostheses and orthoses)

The PharmaCare claim form must be submitted anytime before March 31 of the year immediately following benefit purchases. A single claim form can include multiple eligible purchases (up to 100) made in the same calendar year.

  1. Fill out a PharmaCare claim form. You can get the form from a provider, or by calling 1-800-663-7100.
  2. Mail the completed form with supporting documents to the address below. Ensure all paid receipts are included.

How to submit claims for prostheses and orthoses

Your device supplier will usually submit your invoice and a copy of the appropriate page of the PharmaCare-approved application form (for claims over $400) so that you can be reimbursed.

A Fair PharmaCare client may submit a manual claim for a prosthetic or orthotic device/service directly to PharmaCare only if they have paid the health care provider the entire cost of the device or service.

If you are going to submit the claim yourself:

  1. Your supplier will submit the PharmaCare invoice on your behalf
  2. Obtain the paid receipt for the device(s). Make sure it is complete.
  3. Mail supporting documents to the address below. Ensure all paid receipts are included.
