Policies and Standards
Core Government Policies
There is a core set of government polices based on industry best practices.
- Core Policy and Procedures Manual
- Information Management and Information Technology Management
The B.C. Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) also maintains manuals that support these principles – especially as they relate to identity, privacy, security and records management for application development:
- Information Security Policy
- Recorded Information Management Manual
Core government ministries and organizations are required to use IDIM services and technology for user identity, authentication, common login and user management.
Government has a set of identity standards including architectures, frameworks, models, information and technology standards, and supporting documents to ensure a common, secure and trusted approach is taken to identifying and authenticating users. You are required to follow these in order to use the government’s authentication services.
