The PHP operates the Provincial Hydrometric Network, providing high quality transparent data in a timely manner for use by the widest audience to expand the understanding of water resources in BC.
Our stations emphasize long-term ambient monitoring or short-term project based monitoring. Stations are selected and prioritized for regional reference basins, flood or drought forecasting and management, training and standards development, and to fill data or knowledge gaps according to user needs.
Data is reviewed and published according to provincial RISC standards on an approximately bi-annual basis.
The PHP collaborates across ministries and with other interested third parties to improve access to reliable data and facilitate long term storage. This may include station audits, or assistance in data collection and data review to RISC standards.
Other collaborative opportunities for training and mentorship are available via the Provincial Hydrometric Training Program.
