Apply for a talent agency licence

Talent agencies must be licensed in B.C.

What you'll need

You'll need to provide the following documents and information along with your application:

  • The legal name and contact information for the business
  • Contact information for each director, officer, business owner and/or business partner
  • The address of each location where work will be performed
  • A copy of the talent agency's standard contract
  • A signed statutory declaration (or multiple declarations if required)
  • A description of the services the talent agency will provide

Overview

A talent agency is a person or organization who charges a fee to offer, promise or try to get employment for actors, performers, extras or technical creative film personnel involved in a production of a film, video, television show or television commercial. Talent agencies must be licensed to operate in British Columbia.

Sign the statutory declaration(s)

Every talent agent, director, officer, partner or person who directs the affairs of a talent agency must provide a signed statutory declaration as part of a talent agency licence application or renewal. You'll need to upload the declaration(s) as part of the application.

Provide financial security

New applications require $725 in financial security. You can pay using a cheque or other security payable to the Minister of Finance. Mail the security to:

You can send the security before or after you apply, but your application will only be processed after the security is received.

​Renewal applications do not require additional financial security.

Submit your application

Submit your talent agency application online to reduce processing time. Remember to record your application number.

Pay the application fee

After you've completed your online application, you'll be instructed on how to pay the non-refundable $100 application fee.

You can pay online using a credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) and reduce processing time. If you choose to pay by phone or with a cheque, you'll need to record your application number.

You will be contacted by phone and mail to let you know the reason(s) why. Your financial security will be refunded.

Applicants who previously had a talent agency licence cancelled may be refused another licence.
