Independent school reporting calendar

Form 1701 collects the following information about individual students as of September 29, 2026:

• Name, birth date, gender, grade level, and postal code
• Language programs enrolment
• Indigenous Education program enrolment
• Career program enrolment
• Inclusive Education category enrolment
• Number of courses for all students in the secondary grades, including adult students

 This information is critical for determining full-time equivalents for funding purposes, allocating funds to boards, tracking student movement between schools and boards, monitoring enrolment trends in programs, and board and school data summaries.

Instructions

1. Visit the September K-12 Data Collection web page for the 1701 instructions and form.
2. Submit your completed 1701 submission to the ministry via the Education Data Exchange on or before October 9, 2025.
3. Email Data.Management@gov.bc.ca if you have any questions.

Beginning Thursday, October 1, 2026, schools may submit their graduation data files through EDX Graduation for the 2026-27 school year. Regular data submissions throughout the school year help ensure student transcripts and graduation status information remain current. Schools should refer to the Chart of Important Dates for reporting deadlines and key dates.

On or before October 15 of each year, an employer is required under the Teachers Act to submit to the Director of Certification information that identifies the certificate holders who were employed by the employer from July 1 in the previous year to June 30. This will allow prospective future employers who are considering hiring a certificate holder to see the individual’s employment history.

Schools should submit graduation data files through EDX Graduation with all final course marks, including June completions, by July 10. This ensures transcripts are complete for students’ post-secondary institution selections and year-end credential distribution. Files submitted after July 10 will still be processed. However, students may miss important post-secondary institution deadlines.
