BC Stats Regional Industry Multipliers

Last updated on August 21, 2026

The BC Stats Regional Industry Multipliers, derived from the BC Stats Input-Output Model, provide a transparent, standardized approach to estimate economic impacts of output and investments in B.C. They show how spending ripples through the economy via direct, indirect and induced effects.

About the BC Stats Regional Industry Multipliers Workbook

BC Stats Regional Industry Multipliers are presented in an Excel workbook, and support two types of analysis:

  • Output multipliers estimate the impact of producing goods or services. For example, you can estimate the economic impacts associated with an increase in manufacturing, retail sales or professional services activity
  • Capital expenditure (CAPEX) multipliers estimate the impacts of investment spending, such as construction projects, equipment purchases or investments in research and development

The workbook also has a Lookup tab that allows users to select a region, type of multiplier and industry, then displays the relevant multipliers in a table. Two lookup tables are available so users can compare different selections.

Please note:

  • The BC Stats Multipliers currently used in this workbook are based on 2022 data (the reference year) and reflect the structure of B.C.'s economy at that time
  • Results are estimates and should not be used as precise forecasts
  • The BC Stats Multipliers are subject to change due to methodology refinements
