Highway 1 - Chase East (Chase West to Chase Creek Bridge)

The Highway 1 Chase East Project will improve safety and access for vehicles and active transportation along Highway 1 through the Village of Chase.

What to expect

Travellers

• Expect potential 20-minute all-lane traffic stoppages in both directions along Highway 1 for blasting (daily 1-3 pm and 7-10 pm)
• Expect periodic delays of less than 5 minutes (7 am - 5 pm)

Residents

• Until November 2024, project construction make take place on Sundays between 5:30 am and 1 pm. in addition to regular construction Monday through Saturday. This change is in place to make up for lost time as a result of 2024 wildfire season restrictions. Residents near the project may experience increased noise levels
• Expect noise from construction activities (the needs of local residents and the travelling public are considered when scheduling disruptive work)
• Expect additional construction vehicles and equipment in the area

Project overview

• Widen 1.6 km section of Highway 1 to four lanes and incorporate median and roadside barriers
• Create a new, grade-separated interchange at Brooke Drive
• Install two grade-separated pedestrian paths over Highway 1 with connections to Scatchard Trail
• Provide municipal infrastructure improvements, including traffic and pedestrian safety enhancements along Brooke Drive to Shuswap Avenue

  • Current focus: Ground stabilization work for the new overpass
