Hunting and Trapping Regulations Synopsis (PDF, 13MB) page 56:

Motor Vehicles for Hunting Closed Areas (page 10): The operation of all motor vehicles, including electric bicycles) for the purpose of hunting, to transport wildlife, to transport equipment, firearms, and supplies which are intended for or in support of hunting or to transport hunters to and from the location of wildlife is prohibited in these areas.

  • MUs 7-3 and 7-17:
    • Morkill Forest Service Road during the periods April 15 to June 30 and August 15 to November 30

Proposed regulation:

Extend closed area period to December 10

  • MUs 7-3 and 7-17:
    • Morkill Forest Service Road during the periods April 15 to June 30 and August 15 to December 10

Rationale:

This proposal will only be considered if the proposal to extend the white-tailed deer buck season to December 10 is approved. If that proposal is not approved, this proposal will be withdrawn.

The objective of this proposal is to align the motor vehicle for hunting closure on the Morkill Forest Service Road with the end of general open season (GOS) big game hunting seasons in MUs 7-3 and 7-17. Currently, the latest season closes November 30. If the white-tailed buck season was extended to December 10, the motor vehicle closure would also need to be extended to maintain the original intent of the motor vehicle closure.
