Hunting and Trapping Regulations Synopsis (PDF, 13MB) under Firearms Restricted Areas (page 61 of current synopsis):

Hunting is prohibited on either side of the Lower Burnt Forest Service Road between kilometer 20 (latitude 55.31683; longitude -121.943050) and the crossing of the Burnt River and the Lower Burnt Forest Service Road at kilometer 22.2 (latitude 55.306279; longitude -121.971300) in MU 7-22. The northern boundary of the closure follows the north bank of the Burnt River and the southern boundary is 400 m from the center line of the Lower Burnt Forest Service Road. Consult map (PDF, 298KB).

This area is approximately 2km long x 500m wide.

Rationale:

A hunting closure is proposed for a portion of the Lower Burnt River Forest Service Road, and up to 400 m on either side, for safety purposes in the immediate vicinity of McLeod Lake Indian Band’s (MLIB) permanent cultural camp. Band members use the immediate area around the camp through the summer and fall for a variety of cultural activities and to introduce youth to traditional cultural activities. The closure ensures members can practice treaty rights in a safe setting.
