Last updated on January 12, 2026

The public is invited to comment on the proposed trapping regulation described below.

Status: Proposed

Region: Province-wide

Management unit (MU): Province-wide

Regulation type: Trapping

Species: beaver, bobcat, lynx, otter, raccoon, wolf

Closing date: February 13, 2026 at 4:30 pm PT

Current regulation: Not applicable

Proposed regulation:

Add as certified traps:

  • Duke 330 Magnum killing trap for beavers
  • Duke 330 Super Magnum killing trap for beaver, bobcat, lynx and otter
  • Duke 220 Super Magnum killing trap for raccoon, lynx, bobcat, fisher
  • Rudy Red Wolf CS restraining trap for wolf as certified traps

Rationale:

Canada, along with the European Union and Russia, is a signatory of the Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards (AIHTS).

On January 1, 2025, the AIHTS Certified Trap List by Canada was updated, and the Duke 330 Magnum killing trap for beavers, Duke 330 Super Magnum killing trap for beaver, bobcat, lynx and otter, Duke 220 Super Magnum killing trap for raccoon, and Rudy Red Wolf CS restraining trap for wolf were added as certified traps. This would bring B.C. regulations into alignment with this decision.
