It is important for people who live in B.C. to know what to expect if they ever need to evacuate their home due to hazards like floods, wildfires and tsunamis. This includes understanding how Evacuation Alerts and Orders work, as well as how to access supports such as Emergency Support Services (ESS) once evacuated.

Emergency Support Services (ESS)

If #Evacuation is required during an emergency, evacuees should follow all instructions and evacuate to a designated #EmergencySupportServices (ESS) Reception Centre. If you do not evacuate to a designated location, your access to some or all ESS supports may be impacted.


Preparedness tip: know where to find support if evacuated.

#EmergencySupportServices provide lodging, food, clothing & other services for evacuees that need them most. But homeowner/tenant insurance may provide greater support than #ESS if you have it:

Pre-register for ESS before you need help. You may be eligible for Interac e-transfer when you log in to ESS with BC Services Card Login:

Step 4: Contact the Reception Centre outlined in your Evacuation Order to access supports, including e-transfer
