Downtown Community Court Advisory Council

Last updated on May 24, 2018

The Downtown Community Court Advisory Council is the community’s voice at the court and helps it achieve its goals. Working within the terms of reference established by the court, the Council:

  • Represents the interests and ideas of the community to the court
  • Proposes innovative solutions to problems
  • Provides feedback on matters put to the Council by the community court
  • Undertakes other related responsibilities

The Council advises the court on the community’s concerns with the criminal justice system and works with the court to develop approaches to problem-solving that foster positive change in the community.

The Council meets at least four times a year in consultation with the Office of the Chief Judge and the community court. Council members are appointed for one-year terms by court. For information on becoming an Advisory Council member, please contact community court.
