Stand density management

Last updated on March 2, 2026

Stand density management resources provides practitioners with key tools and guidance to support effective stand density management in British Columbia’s forests.

Resources include stand density management diagrams (SDMDs) for all available BC tree species, along with instructional materials to help users interpret and apply these diagrams in planning and operational contexts. These documents outline how SDMDs inform stand development pathways, treatment timing, and expected responses to density‑related interventions.

Additional training materials—such as instructional videos and applied examples—will be added as they become available to further support silviculture professionals, students, and field staff in making informed stand‑level management decisions.
