FIP Salvage and Stand Rehabilitation

Last updated on September 16, 2025

Projects delivering salvage and stand rehabilitation funded under the Forest Investment Program (FIP) need to follow the program’s applicable standards and guidance. FIP funds salvage and stand rehabilitation through select activities requiring a Forestry License to Cut (FLTC).

Stands which are unsafe to underplant, or may require removal of the overstory for site preparation activities, may be carried out using a FLTC. These FLTC’s are in accordance with Section 47.6(2)(d) of the Forest Act and Section 4 of the Licence to Cut Regulation, where no interest in salvage has been expressed by other licensees, BC Timber Sales, or other small-scale salvagers.
