Re: Flooring Clearances to Fireplace, Subsection 9.22.9.

With reference to your letter of January 18, 1988, regarding clearances from a fireplace.

Clearances from fireplaces are dealt with in Subsection 9.22.9., which does not contain the reference to flooring covered in Article 9.21.6.4. We consider therefore that the provisions of Subsection 9.22.9. should be applied to this installation. The illustrations submitted do not appear to be inconsistent with the intent of this latter Subsection.
