Re: Wood Burning Stove
With reference to your letter received on December 7, 1987, requesting an on-site inspection to approve a stove.
The Building Code requires conformance with a standard for these appliances, and while it does not state that certification is required, the building official presumably needs assurance of compliance with the standard.
The Appeal Board does not carry out on-site inspections for this purpose, it is outside our jurisdiction. We can, however, arrange for a copy of the requirements to be made available if the building inspector agrees to inspect. Alternatively the unit may be acceptable if installed with the full Code clearances, without the reductions usually obtained by virtue of testing to the standard.
