Re: Roof Flashing, Subsection 9.27.4.
With reference to your letter of October 1, 1987, regarding rejection of a flashing between an existing roof and a solarium.
From the information provided we must agree with the building official, your method of flashing is inadequate. Subsection 9.27.4. of the Code deals with flashings for the types of conditions normally encountered, and while not specifically addressing your situation, provides sufficiently for the intent to be applied. We feel that with the application of this intent and conventional good practice, your problem should be resolved. For example an extension of the upper flashing over the glass for at least 150 mm would be beneficial.
