Re: Ventilation for Cooking Equipment
With reference to your letter of June 7, 1983, regarding the installation of two domestic ovens for social purposes.
This issue was covered in a recent appeal, No. 687, in which we provide a basis for the exercise of value judgment in various types of situations. The fact that you are using residential equipment is not relevant, as our appeal decision indicated that the actual use is the critical consideration.
We must accept that at some time the equipment usage may be such that a hazard is created. However, we cannot assume abuse to be inevitable and regard this aspect as something to be controlled by in-use inspections.
