Appellant's Position

The appellant contends that a sewage sump located outside the building does not require a vent.

Building Official's Position

The building/plumbing official maintains that a vent is required in conformance with Sentence 7.4.6.3.(2).

Appeal Board Decision #1500

It is the determination of the Board that a sewage sump, whether inside or outside the building, must be vented as required by Sentence 7.4.6.3.(2). The appellant also asked whether it makes any difference if the sump is fibreglass or concrete but the Board could not see the relevance of this question to the subject of venting.
