Re: Dead End Corridor, Sentence 3.3.4.4.(1)

With reference to your letter of September 28, 1989, regarding dead end corridors in an 8 storey condominium building. Different statements are made in the information submitted, some of which is not disputed, so is presumably acceptable. Under the circumstances we will deal only with the situation relating to the dead end corridor.

There is reference to an exterior passageway, serving the various suites; assuming that this complies with Sentence 3.4.4.1.(8) we accept that it is an exit, rather than an access to an exit. The Section of corridor serving Units B and C does not qualify as an exterior passageway and should be considered as a public corridor. From this we must conclude that it does not comply with Sentence 3.3.4.4.(1); if the exterior passageway is the exit for these 2 suites, then the corridor is served only by a single exit, and a dead end section would not be permitted.
