Re: Lobby Exits from Interconnected Floor Space, Sentences 3.2.8.1.(8) and 3.4.4.1.(7)

With reference to your letter of May 30, 1989 regarding an exit stair leading through a lobby.

The information supplied is limited, and we note that winders are shown on the stair in question, but we understand that these are no longer exist. With respect to doors for the stairs, the design is stated to comply with Sentence 3.2.8.1.(8) for an interconnected floor space, and Sentence 3.4.4.1.(7) for an exit through a lobby. Sentence 3.4.4.1.(7) gains an exemption from Sentence 3.4.4.1.(1) subject to the interconnected floor space complying with Sentence 3.2.8.1.(8), so under the circumstances we do not consider the doors in question to be required.
