Re: Fire Retardant Treated Fabric, Sentence 3.1.4.6.(5)
With reference to your letter of April 19, 1989 regarding the use of fire-retardant treated fabric.
The particular Code provision involved is Sentence 3.1.4.6.(5), and the fabric in question has been tested by Ontario Research to a standard used in the aircraft industry. From the information supplied we are unable to accept that the material complies with the B.C. Building Code, which requires conformance with ULC-S109. While it may be that the testing does indicate compliance, it is not our function to carry out technical assessments to verify this fact. Accordingly we suggest that you obtain the necessary proof from a nationally accredited certifying organization in the field of fire-testing.
