Re: Vinyl Siding, Clearances

With reference to your letter of September 26, 1988 regarding the clearance of vinyl siding from the exterior of a masonry or concrete fireplace.

We agree that the B.C. Building Code in its present wording does not intend that the vinyl siding be kept away from exterior masonry or concrete fireplaces.

Under the circumstances we consider that the edges of the vinyl siding to which you refer do not require a clearance.
