How to file the Statement A

As a British Columbia farmer, you must provide a statement that accurately shows your farming activities for the year. Use our Statement A to report your income and expenses for income tax purposes and to report your farming information. AgriStability needs some key details about your farm each year; like how much money you made and spent, what you produced, and what you had in inventory.

AgriStability uses this form to calculate your farm’s profits and compare it to past years. If your net income drops more than 30%, the program will help cover some of the loss. Filling out Statement A correctly helps make sure you get the support you need.

To be eligible for payments, you must complete and file your Statement A annually.

Statement A for Individuals

As a British Columbia farmer you must file a statement of farming activity each year to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

For farmers enrolled in the AgriStability program, farmers use a T1163 Statement A (statement of farming activities for individuals). This form is for self-employed farmers or partners of partnerships who report farming income and want to participate in the AgriStability and AgriInvest programs.

To speed up your file processing, you can use our online AgriStability supplemental form (last page of the Statement A). This form records your annual farm size, production, and inventory details. It also includes income and expenses that were not cleared by year end.
