Learning objective

During each academic detailing session, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Apply current evidence to guide prescribing and deprescribing decisions for tirzepatide, semaglutide, liraglutide, naltrexone-bupropion and orlistat
  • Compare clinical considerations when choosing between medications
  • Discuss dosing, dose response, timing of weight loss effect, effect after stopping, cost

After the academic detailing session, participants will be able to thoughtfully discuss, prescribe, monitor and manage the current, and upcoming, medications for weight loss.

Personalized education in 30-60 minutes via in-person visit or Web conferencing (i.e., Zoom or WebEx) at a time that is convenient for you. This group learning program has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the British Columbia Chapter for up to 1.0 Mainpro+ credit.

This education session will focus on drug information applicable to adults who may be considering medications that reduce body weight. While important, the following are beyond the scope of these sessions: pediatrics, nutrition, exercise interventions, limitations of body mass index (BMI).
